As the match was about to end, two Noe Middle School underdogs nervously bounced on the balls of their feet, and stepped into position. The crowd was on the edge of its seat and watched the last move of the players that decided their fate.
Jude Tasman and Maddox Moore competed October 14th at Petersburg Park, winning the advanced division doubles match and carrying home a trophy as second-year players for Noe. Moore and Tasman had not only an amazing championship match, but an amazing season, winning most of their matches throughout the year.
Tasman said, “We only lost one game out of maybe 20 to 24 games.”
The most important time to pull out the win, the championship match.
The championship was an intense match between Crosby and Noe, with Noe winning the first set 4-1 and winning the last two sets 4-2.
When asked when they realized they were going to win, Moore replied, “In tennis you can’t really know when you are going to win because there is always a chance you will come back. So, maybe when we won the last point.”
Tasman, unlike Moore, felt a little more confident in what their chances of winning would look like. Tasman said, “Whenever you get a 2-0 start, it is a good start to have and when that happened I felt a lot more confident.”
In the end the boys made amazing plays and won the championship tennis match. As first time championship winners the boys are excited about their win and unsure of what will come in the next year.
