Drake pushes students to master concepts, take pride in their success

After graduating with degrees in accounting and finance, Seventh-grade Math teacher Drake quickly realized the corporate world wasn’t for her – “It seemed very boring.” She earned her alternative teaching certification, and she hasn’t looked back since.
Drake brings 11 years of teaching experience to the classroom, including the six years dedicated to the Noe community.
Drake said, transitioning to Noe from a smaller school was wonderful for her, thanks to the school’s large and incredibly loving community. She said the most rewarding part of teaching is witnessing her students master new concepts and take pride in their own success.
According to Drake, while she wishes people knew just how much behind the scenes work went into creating individualized learning plans for every single student, seeing them meet their goals makes it worth the work. To keep those breakthroughs happening without interruption, her classroom has one vital, unwritten rule – never use the electric pencil sharpener while she is teaching.
Outside of school, Ms. Drake stays active by playing pickleball, water skiing, and reading. She is also an enthusiastic supporter of Noe’s student body and was thrilled to read about the expansion of the Journalism Club in the recent teachers’ weekly newsletter.
