All About KUNA

Harper Lile, 8th grade Editor-in-Chief

Interested in leadership, debate, or learning how government works, KUNA might be for you.

Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) is a student leadership program where delegates represent countries, debate global issues, and develop speaking collaboration skills.

This is an amazing opportunity that is only available to 7th and 8th grade students.

KUNA is a simulation of the United Nations Assembly.

KUNA is a very exciting opportunity where students have the opportunity to come out of their shells, meet students from all over Kentucky, and collaborate with their fellow Noe students.

Through KUNA you learn valuable life skills, gain independence, learn about global countries and overall have a lot of fun.

KUNA is the cousin of KYA, many people who liked KYA, liked KUNA as well. Also, if you went to KYA you will be familiar with the process of KUNA.

KUNA is run by YMCA and they do a great job of making sure the conference is run smoothly and a memorable experience from everyone.

This year we have Emerson Bowling representing Noe Middle as our presiding officer.

KUNA is a three day conference that takes place at the Crowne Plaza here in Louisville.

To be able to attend KUNA, you must complete the necessary requirements, as it is an application process.

Ms. Devore is handling the application process for KUNA  and you can contact her with any questions or concerns. She is a social studies teacher on seven navigators, located at room 109B and her email is emily.devore@jefferson.kyschools.us

You can find further information in your Google Classrooms. There are several application materials, one being a KUNA interest form which you can find on the KUNA information sheet, which should be posted on your various Google Classrooms.

KUNA meetings are on Wednesday mornings for 7th graders and Thursday mornings for 8th graders.

Emerson Bowling, our presiding officer will be at both meetings each week, helping and advising students.

We wish our Noe students the best of luck at KUNA and a very valuable and enjoyable experience.
