Introducing the Rockets’ new science teacher

By Amisha Bista, Eighth Grade

Eighth-grade science teacher Melissa Brown is new to Noe. She loves teaching the next generation, music, and her animals.

The eighth-grade Rockets team has a new science teacher who loves teaching the next generation.

Melissa Brown graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a minor in biology. Brown chose education because she “feels joy when one of her students understands science.” It fills her with a sense of pride that she is teaching the next generation.

Brown’s biggest goal for her students is to be curious and keep learning. For the incoming students who are afraid, she wants them to know if you stay positive, then everything will be alright. Brown wants every student to know, no matter what, she cares for them. She said, “I prepare my students for high school’s immense workload by setting high standards.”  In the past, her students sent an experiment to the ISS.

Brown is a skilled singer. If she wasn’t a science teacher, she said she would most likely be a music teacher.

She loves Taylor Swift and the quickest way to earn brownie points in her eyes is to talk about music. She’s a big animal person, with three dogs and two cats and she has three daughters. She’s been married for 30 years to her husband.
