Brockman brings energy to Social Studies Classroom

Eighth-grade Social Studies teacher Jonathan Brockman was inspired to teach by his love for school and learning.
Brockman has taught for 21 years, 14 of which have been at Noe Middle School. His passion is passing knowledge to his students. He said the number one thing he wants to pass on to his students is an appreciation for how the country was formed. Secondly, he wants students to understand the growth and progress of the United States did not come from “high and mighty elected people. Instead, it came from the people and we are part of that and this is our country no matter where you are from, you have the right to participate.”
Brockman’s favorite part of teaching is the “googy” days when he feels that he doesn’t want to do a lot of teaching and gets off topic and has fun. His least favorite part is grading, since it’s a long process and there are a lot of students.
Brockman’s passions include playing golf, although he doesn’t get to play often, movies, and reading.
