Cougars shut out 5 of 7 opponents
By Preston Baker and Titus Reynolds, The Noetice
Members of the Noe varsity football team vocalized a desire to go undefeated early in the season. They backed up the talk with a 7-0 regular season and now head into the playoffs looking to avenge last season’s loss in the championship game.
“Defense is how they win most of their games,” Head coach Kevin Glenn said.
That defense has been a key to success. The Cougars have outscored opponents 192-20 on their way to the second seed in the playoffs. Dubois Academy is also 7-0 and is the top seed by virtue of fewer points allowed.
Noe opens the playoffs at 9 a.m. Oct. 24 at Dubois Academy against the winner of Knight and Farnsley.
According to Glenn, the defensive line has been key to forcing quick, messy throws that can result in turnovers. That defense has recorded five shutouts.
