Caden Green, Editor-In-Chief, 8th Grade
For the first time, Noe hosted an eighth-grade career fair prior to Fall Break, giving students a chance to explore potential career paths and gather ideas of what their future could hold.
Eighth-grade Counselor Mrs. Mercer and eighth-grade Assistant Principal Mrs. Canale planned the career fair to help students not only in the classroom, but also in developing real-world skills and exploring future career opportunities.
Since eighth-grade students are thinking about high school choices, the fair was designed as a “taste test” to introduce them to any potential careers they may not have considered before.
“(Our goal) is to open some doors and give an image of what this career or that career could look like for students who might not get to see these careers in their everyday lives,” Canale said.
Mrs. Canale and Mrs. Mercer worked towards finding people who fit the requests from the students.
“It all ties back to what our eighth graders told us they were interested in,” Canale said.
Eighth-grader Harper Lile had a beneficial experience during the fair.
“It opened doors about sales positions,” Lile said. “I didn’t know a lot about sales before. It also had some careers that I was already interested in, so it was good to learn more about that.”
Among those attending the career fair and speaking to students was U.S. Congressman Morgan McGarvey, who represents the Louisville area. Many others attended, including a chef and a pilot.
