Many JCPS School have stricter rules when it comes to clothing

LOUISVILLE, KY, AUGUST 24 – The dress code at Noe Middle School has been a big part of the rules for a long time. Some think it’s vital while others aren’t so sure.
Some claim that the dress code is vital to our school rules and that it is lenient.
“I like our dress code,” Principal Dr. Kate Grindon said. “I think it’s a pretty reasonable one. One of the more lenient dress codes in JCPS. (It’s) a nice halfway point between having something like a uniform, which I don’t think we need, and ensuring that we still have some level of professionalism among what the kids are wearing.”
Sixth-grade student Penelope Levenda believes otherwise.
“I don’t really like it that your fingertips have to match your short length,” Levenda said. “I had to get a bunch of new shorts.”
Sixth-grade student Selma Pasic said, “I like it, but I don’t like (not being able to wear) the open toes (rule) because I love wearing Birkenstocks.”
Many schools in JCPS require strict uniform codes, such as polo shirts, belts, etc.
