The Disney Imagineer Studio Learning Lab is an enrichment learning lab centered around the Disney theme parks. It is led by Emily Singleton, the sixth-grade Achievers’ science teacher.
The Learning Lab takes place in Singleton’s room, room 206. It meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:50-10:20.
Sixth through eighth grade are allowed to be in the Disney Imagineer Studio Enrichment Learning Lab.
In the Disney Imagineer Studio Learning Lab, Singleton said students learn about different types of science and technology behind the engineering and imagineering of Disney. She said each week, students will have a different theme to focus on.
“I think it’s important to be able to learn the imagineering of Disney because their rides are so important to their parks and it just creates the real Disney imagineering and life,” Laney Spiegelhalter, a student from the Disney Imagineer Studio Learning Lab, said.
Singleton said she thinks this Learning Lab is important because you can take what Disney does with how they build their theme parks and what students learn from the Disney Imagineer Studio Learning Lab and apply it to other subjects and skills.
Singleton said in order for the Enrichment Learning Lab to be established, teachers had to fill out a form about the top three options they wanted to teach. Singleton got her first option, and the Disney Imagineer Studio became an Enrichment Learning Lab.
Singleton said she wanted to teach the Disney Imagineer Learning Lab because she wanted to teach something that she enjoyed but what other students would find enjoyable as well.
